Bauchi Residents Prepare for Eid-el Fitr Celebration

As Ramadan 1445 AH (2014) comes to an end few hours ahead, muslim residents in Bauchi state are busy preparing for the celebration of Eid-el Fitr that follows immediately, in demonstration of gratitude and appreciation of Allah’s bounties and mercies for the successful coplemetion of Ramadan fasting period.

While despite the biting economic hardship that runs througout the fasting period, residents continuously manage the situation with the little in the pockets to make afforedable purchases in markets, shops and business centres for the usual sallah special foods, gifts, charities and new dresses to mark the occasion in festive mood and gratefullness to Allah.

Apart from the security measures to ensure peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the celebration, the Bauchi state government is making the last minutes sustained efforts to ensure that the Government House Mini Stadium is completed to serve as a befitting venue for His Excellency, the Governor, Sen. Bala A. Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi) to receive homage by His Royal Highness, Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwan Suleiman Adamu, during this year’s Hawan Daushe (Hawan Bariki), which follows a day after the Eid –el Fitr is observed. The new aesthetic project with its illuminating space, seats and communication facilities is part of the gigantic re-modelling of the State’s Government House by the Kaura administration.

The Bauchi Emirate Council, in its preparation for a smooth tradional durbar annually held to celebrate the occasion in a grand style has since mobilised all tradional title holders designated for the annula durbar, through a special Committee under, Dr Baba Mohammed Gidado (Madakin Bauchi). The Special Committee has identified routes, issued stong directives, and equallly strenthened synergy with security agencies in the state capital for the movement within the designated places, crowd control and hitch-free movement throughout the hours of the celebration.

His Royal Highness, the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwan Suleiman Adamu CFR and his entourage will pray at the Bauchi Central Praying Ground, just few metres at the outskirt, after which he will ride on horse back to signal the commencement of the celebration, on his way back to the palace to receive members of the State Executive Council, led by the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Bala  Abdulkadir Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi), top government officials and thousands of citizens converged to take glipmses of the sallah horse-riding event.

In the meantime, an announcement from the Sultanate in Sokoto through the office of Sarkin Malaman Sokoto, Yahaya  Muhammad Boyi, urges Muslims in Nigeria to look for the new moon of Shawwal, 1445 AH, starting from Monday, April 8, 2024.
